American InterContinental University Serving Minority Students Exceptionally Well
A report by Diverse Issues in Higher Education indicates American InterContinental University has become one of the top degree awarding institutions for minority students in the United States. The online branch of the college is ranked among the top ten institutions awarding associate, undergraduate and graduate degrees across all academic disciplines.
The report revealed that more African-Americans graduated with bachelor's degrees in business from the university's online campus (AIU Online) than from any other university campus in the United States during the 2005-2006 school year. In addition, the school ranked first in master's degrees in computer and information science awarded to Hispanic-Americans and third in both bachelor's and master's degrees awarded to African-Americans for that same field.
Dr. George Miller, chief executive officer of American InterContinental University, has released a statement relating to the positive data emerging from the report. "We are proud of the fact that Diverse Issues in Higher Education recognizes that AIU successfully serves students who are traditionally underrepresented in academia. AIU Online provides access to a flexible education and an opportunity for students to improve their lives by attending university courses on their own schedules, and without regard to geographic obstacles."
American InterContinental University is accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools. That accreditation pertains to degrees awarded at the Associate, Bachelor's, and Master's levels for the branch campuses in Los Angeles, Buckhead, Dunwoody, South Florida, London, Houston, AIU Online, and the American University in Dubai.
